Why Create APOC, The Alabama Pool of Choice
In 2019 The Memphis Supply Chain Innovation Team led by FMC Commissioner Dye, which included Memphis market participants, concluded that all chassis in the Memphis region needed to be interoperable. Dave Manning’s vision of modern chassis specs, adequate chassis supply, and pricing transparency is ideal for managing the multi-contributor interoperable pools like Memphis Pool of Choice and now, the Alabama Pool of Choice, APOC.
Qualities of an Efficient Market Competitive Pool
Users can choose the provider who will invoice them based on service, interchange terms, and price. Modern Premium chassis equipped with GPS, Radial tires, LED lights, ABS, and some with an Auto-Inflation-System will be available when and where they are needed. Pool rules assign use for both MH (Merchant Haulage) and CH (Carrier Haulage) moves. CH and MHE (Merchant Haulage Exception) will be billed by the ocean carriers’ nominated chassis provider. Simplified; any CH or MHE (Merchant Haulage Exception) where an APOC chassis is used, billing will go to the user, who may not be reimbursed by the ultimate owner of the move. If the Provider of the ocean carrier’s container is not an APOC pool contributor, use will default to the Provider who contributed the chassis to the pool.
How Does APOC Operate
APOC is an interoperable pool open to all contributors. Pool rules assign use for both MH (Merchant Haulage) and CH (Carrier Haulage) moves. With CHOICE, users can select the chassis provider who will invoice them based on service, interchange terms, and price. CH and MHE (Merchant Haulage Exception) will be billed by the chassis provider nominated by the ocean carrier.
How Do I Sign Up

We will notify you if we have any further questions or require additional information Remember, this pool should only be used with MH (Merchant Haulage) moves, or if an ocean line has nominated one of the APOC contributors as their CH (Carrier Haulage) provider.
